Hastings United v Harrow Borough - Saturday 2nd October 2010

Pre Match Report

I’m Roger Sinden here at Imperial Fields Morden where Hastings United visit Tooting and Mitcham United.

Hastings did well to halt their recent poor run of form  and secure four points from six over a successful week.

On Saturday Harrow Borough visited the Pilot File and eventually succumbed to two second half goals from Ade Olorunda and Michael Phillips. Olorunda’s withdrawal before the end through injury meant that he was unable for the mid week visit to Carshalton Athletic with goalkeeper Clark Masters also absent through suspension.

Sam Adams played as a lone striker on Tuesday night and goalkeeper Charlie Mitten was drafted in from Welling United . A slick performance saw Hastings take a one goal lead when  in form defender John Beales forced home from close range and although other chances also came their way, Hastings were under heavy pressure from the home side. They did finally snatch an equalising goal, to share the spoils, but Hastings will consider that this was a hard earned point which was richly deserved.

Today sees a visit to Tooting at a ground which United have a poor record at, other than their play off achievement in 2007. Ade Olorunda looks as though he will make the starting line up, and Clark Masters is restored after suspension, so it is only the injured Sean Ray who is unavailable for selection for a match against a struggling Tooting side which is lacking in confidence.
